Ever realized how people tend to turn to God when things aren't going so well with them? We always seem to pray when we want something. Be it financial gain, or a deliverance of sorts; we pray with the mindset that we are going to receive something in return. Just take a second and think of how many times you have prayed to say "Thank You" for what you already have or to just have a conversation with the awe-inspiring being we call God... Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Don't get it twisted, this is not a blog about religion and all its facets, but just think about what I just said. We ALWAYS, if not 90% of the time, seek religion in times of turmoil. What does that say about us?

This past weekend, my boyfriend's father passed away (his soul rest in peace) and I remember that as my boyfriend sat before me telling me this sad news, besides trying to imagine the amount of pain he must have been feeling at that very moment, I kept on racking my brain for any word of comfort that I could remember having read in the Bible over the past years. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one at that moment but last night as I lay in bed, I found a few scriptures that I hoped would bring him hope. That got me thinking: When last had I opened my Bible to read it just as I would a romantic novel before I sleep?... Never...

Then I thought of how rightful it is that the Bible refers to God as the Heavenly Father and we, his children. We run to him like a five year old child runs back to his mother when he has been hurt. We always expect Him to make everything better. But then we forget those moments we spend talking just talking to our mothers and listening to their loving words. We never talk to God just for the sake of talking and we spend even less time listening to what He has to say to us in His Book Of Life. That's what it is...

Once again I ask: What does that say about us?
