My Forever
Do you ever wonder what you'll be like when you are old and grey? When you'll be walking with a cane, half bent over, skin sagging, false teeth and maybe even throw in a false hip as well, okay I think that's enough of a mental picture, I'm sure you get it... So do you ever wonder?
I have a friend who always vowed that she would kill herself if she realized she was getting old, hahaha, but that was back in the 9th grade, so I doubt she still feels the same way. The other day, I felt a bit old than my years; it actually frustrated me. I was chilling with friends when one of the high school girls I was chilling with made a song request. She requested a certain song by a certain artist, entitled "Orgasm". Now I'm sure some of you know this song and maybe you even like it.
Now just put yourself in my gold gladiator sandals for a second; I have never really listened to this artist before and I had definitely never heard of this song before. To add insult to injury, this chick and her friend then began to twerk, and dougie and do whatever other new dance there is, to this song and there I was, the only girl still seated and I didn't even know where to start. Ask anyone who knows me, I DON'T DANCE (well, not under normal circumstances, that is *giggle*)!
So I just sat there, not knowing where to look, my phone had died so there was no way it was going to save me. So I just sat there in awkward silence, feeling old and uncomfortable. I felt so dumb, as if time had passed me by, I mean this song was obviously what all the kids were talking about and here I was hearing it for the first time, LIKE REALLY JACQUI?! I couldn't believe it hey! I, the biggest hip hop freak, didn't know this song! FUDGE WAS I EMBARRASSED AND PISSED!
But you know what? I'm past that now. After much thought, I realized that the reason why I didn't know the song, firstly, was because it really wasn't my kind of hip hop. It didn't mean I was old, it just meant I had different taste from them, that's all it was. As far as I know, I'll be young forever, we all will, with the right mind set of course. If you ask me, nobody really wants to get old. So I.m saying don't get old, just learn to grow. Grow from your years. Grow from your experience. Grow from your mistakes. But never, and I emphasize: NEVER GET OLD!
The urge for ETERNAL LIFE has been engraved so deep in our hearts, and we know we can't live forever but we can leave something that will live on for us, ETERNALLY, that's what it is... Now ask yourself: "What can I leave behind that will be forever?"
